Native Plant Rain Garden

Some years back we received grants from the Lake County Stormwater Commission proposing a native plant demonstration rain garden. The Loch Lomond volunteers shepherding this proposal had two goals. One, to provide a demonstration native plant rain garden for property owners that would showcase the viability of rain gardens for their own properties and, two, help mitigate localized stormwater run-off directly into the lake. Our in-kind obligation was met through “sweat equity” i.e. many volunteers clearing, planning, and planting almost 1500 native plants. If you have a chance, visit this site on Banbury outside of North Beach. For information on native plant rain gardens for your own properties, contact the LLPOA Lake Management Committee chair, Fritz Chesek at fchesek@comcast.net.
